ABOUT POINT OF VIEW AND OUR MISSION

Point of View is dedicated to nurturing, promoting, and encouraging the artistic medium of celluloid by planning, organizing and presenting community based film presentation, festivals, and outreach programs. POV works on a volunteer basis and receives aid and support from international individual donors and non-profit organizations like the Cohen Foundation in India. We sit at a grassroots level to enrich the lives of all social, economic, racial, and religious classes by promoting festivals that are accessible to everyone.

POV supports and screens film shorts, documentaries, full featured films, and individual art productions that demand the power of a public voice and an international audience. The festivals and presentations run by POV are comprised of both critically intuitive and culturally diverse domestic and international productions. We nurture movies that challenge social prejudices and encourage distinct perspectives that would not otherwise be exhibited theatrically in an international community.

GOALS AS COMMUNITY MEMBERS

India is known for its extravagant festivals and cultural traditions. On Tamil holidays and like Pongal, Deepavali, and Independence Day millions of Indian's join together as one nation to celebrate the life and culture of India. Holidays are unique in that they demolish the barriers of cast as people crowd the city streets and community centers to commemorate India's wondrous national heritage.

Keeping in line with this tradition, Point of View provides a unique cultural experience for all social and economic classes to join together and celebrate the wealth and joy of human life.We also provide creative outlets for inventive programs and forums to explore the medium of expression through film.
